Thanks so much for your interest in DATAC training! We would love to help you become a trained specimen collector.

For collectors working within Canada the best course is the Certified Specimen Collector course (also known as the CSC), which covers all aspects of the drug and alcohol testing industry. This course provides an overview of the whole process as well as specific instructions on how to do urine collections (for point of care tests and/or lab tests), hair strand and oral fluid (saliva) collections. This course takes about 12 hours.

If you are testing employees who will be going into the US (transport drivers) then you would need US Department of Transportation compliant testing, which would mean you would be required to take the Certified DOT Specimen Collector course (also known as the CDSC) to comply with their regulations. This course takes about 7 hours.

We also have the Breath Alcohol Technician (also known as the BAT) course which is specific for training for breath alcohol testing using a breathalyzer. This course is also DOT compliant, should that be a requirement you have. This course takes about 7 hours.
